Budget holiday ideas from Prima magazine

Get some top tips on keeping holiday costs down from the April issue of Prima magazine. If you thought that a maximum budget of £50 per person per night meant camping and baked beans on toast, think again. Suggestions from Prima include holidays in France, Spain, Tokyo and the Big Apple and, for those who just want to crash by their own private pool, Wish Sicily’s Casa Turchina. The 3-bedroom villa has a garden and pool and is just 100m from the beach. Read Prima article here.

Marie Claire visits Sicily

Editor in chief Trish Halpin writes about her stay at Wish Sicily’s Villa Atena, near Ragusa, in Marie Claire’s April issue. With so much to see in the area, one week is just about long enough to explore the fascinating town of Ragusa Ibla, visit the beaches at Punta Secca and Marina di Ragusa and, of course, experience, the best of Sicilian cuisine. Read about Trish’s Wish Sicily holiday online or in the April issue of Marie Claire.

Floral fantasies from Woman’s Own

Spring still seems a way off here in London although the lighter mornings and longer days haven’t gone unnoticed. At Woman’s Own, thoughts are turning to all things floral and this week’s edition features a selection of flower festivals – in Japan, Madeira, Cornwall, Holland and Sicily. Sicily’s contribution is the L’Infiorata di Noto festival, when artists transform Noto’s Via Nicolaci into a floral carpet made up of mosaic-style pictures, overlooked by the baroque balconied palazzi which characterise the town. Wish Sicily features a selection of villas and apartments in and around Noto.

The Times: Top 50 holidays in Italy 2017

Great to see client Wish Sicily’s new Villa Idda included in the best new places to stay section of the Times’ 50 Best Holidays in Italy for 2017. Set amongst the orange groves that surround the seaside town of Acireale, the recently restored villa comprises two separate buildings (perfect for two families), connected by a shaded dining terrace overlooking the garden and pool. Think cool, stone surfaces, sunken baths, double height ceilings and vast picture windows – this is definitely one for the bucket list!

Hot spots for summer 2017

Client Wish Sicily’s Villa Renata was one of two holidays in Italy featured in the Sunday Times’ round-up of top holidays to book before the January rush. Summer 2016 saw a high demand for key destinations and many families missing out on their first choice of holiday. This, combined with general uncertainty in terms of perceived low-risk destinations, means that there has never been a better time to beat the crowds and take advantage of some of the early booking offers available. Go Gourmet in Sicily

As the last programme in the current series of Bake Off approaches, this week’s Sunday Mirror attempted to soften the blow for diehard fans by featuring a selection of top 10 Bake Off breaks. Amongst the holidays included was client Wish Sicily’s multi-sensory tasting and cooking experience close to Ragusa in the south east of the island. Read more here

Holiday dilemmas

Looking for a solution to your holiday problem? The Times Travel Doctor may have the answer. This week, in response to a reader’s query on where to find a villa for six with a private pool and within walking distance of a local town in Sicily, she turned to our client Wish Sicily for inspiration.

Back to school

Last weekend’s Times travel section featured a selection of family holidays guaranteed to add colour to your child’s school days. Greek island cruises, language lessons on the ski slopes and Tudor history in Kent all appeared, together with a Wish Sicily holiday on Sicily’s east coast. Stay in Villa Viscalori on the slopes of Mount Etna and your kids can find out all about volcanoes as well as brushing up on their ancient history in nearby Taormina.

Picture perfection in Europe

Is it possible to narrow down Europe’s most picture perfect towns into a list of just 14? Online lifestyle and travel magazine, Hero & Leander, has had a good go at it, including one of my favourite Sicilian towns, Modica.  Best known for its chocolate and its ostentatiously ornate Duomo, the town is just one of many must-see stops in the fabulous Val di Noto.

Client Wish Sicily has a great choice of villas in the surrounding countryside but if you fancy a short break based in the heart of the action, the supremely sleek Hortus Suites are the place to stay, for terrace views of the Duomo, spa relaxation and chilled al fresco lunches in the shade of fig and pomegranate trees.
